Form:
The multimedia video utilizes 3d and CG technology to create a rich, immersive visual experience. The visuals are presented on a large screen or projection, consisting of 3d modeled creatures and environments, while the sound is delivered through a high-quality speaker system. The distorted voices of each guardian are achieved through sound manipulation and processing, adding to the immersive and otherworldly atmosphere of the short film. The work’s overall structure takes a more narrative route. The work invites the viewer to engage with the piece emotionally, encouraging them to understand the perspective of these sentient creatures and their concern for their planet.
Content:
The content of this project explores the relationship between humanity and the natural world, using the voices of the Elemental Guardians to speak out against the destruction caused by human activity. The project was created using Maya and premiere pro, with the animation done in Maya’s spirit. Autodesk Maya was the primary tool for creating the 3d models and comprised the elemental guardian's world and the guardians themselves. This software was chosen for its versatility and power in creating high-quality 3D models. It allowed the artist to create intricate and detailed landscapes for each Guardian’s realm, take inspiration from creatures related to those elements, and make them through pre-made assets and model masks. Premiere Pro was used for post-production, allowing the artist to edit and refine the visuals and sound for maximum impact. The final product was a film that utilized 3D/CG cinema art, heavy sound, and distorted voices to create an immersive and thought-provoking exploration of humanity’s impact on the natural world. The project aims to create a purely informative and immersive experience that allows viewers to understand better the themes and issues presented.
Method:
This project involved a detailed concept development phase, 3D modeling and texturing of the characters and environments, animating the camera, sound design, voice manipulation, and post-production. Using Autodesk Maya and Premiere Pro, the film involves an immersive and thought-provoking experience that explores environmental issues through 3D/CG cinema art, heavy sound, and distorted voices.
